Graham delivered a number of workshops on bystander intervention throughout 2021/22 and a train the trainer course in Plymouth, with just under 200 people engaging in the sessions.

Graham was great at communicating and being responsive, especially as we had a tight deadline to submit a funding application! Graham was super flexible with the arrangements and fitting us in when he could, delivering sessions on different days and times to try and attract as wide an audience as possible.

Graham hosted the sessions really well and attendee feedback included that “Graham is an inspiring and engaging facilitator with an incredibly important mission to mobilise men and boys (indeed everyone) to challenge and prevent violence against women and girls.

He is an incredibly valuable voice at a pivotal time”. We had other great feedback including “Great session with lots of interesting discussion. Good use of resources to help solidify the content and nice to be able to contribute, share and ask questions if needed. I will definitely be recommending this training to others”.

From our evaluation data, completed by 110 people, 96% said they understand how Bystander Intervention can prevent sexual violence and 98% agreed they understand what can prevent/inhibit someone from being an active bystander. 96% agreed they have learnt different tools and strategies that can support active bystander engagement.

Following the train the trainer sessions, the 21 people who attended decided to set up their own network so they could maintain momentum and sustain bystander intervention as a useful tool in preventing violence against women and girls. This network are now planning how to roll out more training across the City.

Moving forward, we are keen to maintain our relationship with Graham and consider how we can focus bystander intervention in schools and with young people. I hope our relationship with Graham continues as I see him as a key partner in our efforts to prevent violence and abuse.
